Let's share^^

第二次来到DC。。。这次不是跟着shitty的旅行团，过着上车睡觉，下车撒尿，到点儿照相的日子了：）被一位很好的family friend带着去了NIH（National Institute of Health), Medical History Museum, National Cathedral, Georgetown U and Georgetown... Everything was so neat. It's the capital. It's warm and cozy and had a sense of community. Pray that I will at least do a fellow at NIH. It's amazing. The weather was cold, but the sun was nice and the sky was blue. I'm waiting for the pics to be uploaded on FB.

Maya and Cancun:)

Cancun is really beautiful. Even before I stepped out the plane, there was a really huge sign, saying “paradise” at the side of the road. I thought, “This is a bit of arrogant. Although it’s really beautiful, you don’t have to show it this way.” As soon as I stepped out the airport, I was shocked. I’m obsessed with palm trees. There were just so many growing prosperously. The temperature wasn’t cold or hot. It was just right.

The hotel we live gives me a sensation of ancient Greek and Aegean Sea. There’s huge balcony and corridors, huge window-like places without glasses. It’s fun to experience a little about Cancun Downtown. People who are usually on vacation live on the Hotel Bridge, which has luxuries and entertainments and dream white sand beach. I was pretty 怨念。。。但是很好经历了一下Cancun Downtown。

What I learned today:)
Chichen-Itza is maya language, it means “Mouth” “Drinkable Water Well” and “Maya people.” Mayas used the place we visited to worship god and to sacrifice creatures. Maya literally means the “chosen ones:” Chichen-Itza is the place where Mexican Central Mountain culture and Mayan culture fuses. Maya people intentionally chose the healthiest, strongest, most intelligent, with abundant knowledge in medicine and Theology to come down here to preach their culture. People use the main pyramid to practice meditation, so inside the pyramid is empty. Tourists are no longer allowed to climb up the pyramid because a poor lady fell and died from falling from the 73 feet acme 30 years ago. If people clap underneath the pyramid, we would hear bird’s singing inside the chamber. When the vernal equinox and the autumnal equinox, we can see the shiny snake reflected on the body of the pyramid.

There are many other buildings with different functionality. Only rich people can approach these buildings, and only rich people can play the game. The description of the ball game and its rules reminded me of Quidditch from J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter Series. Please see the detail from Xintong’s blog.

Talking about human sacrifices, we can’t not talk about the painting on the stones. There is a really famous painting, featuring a leopard sticking the tongue out with a human heart on a ancient scale. It’s actually about the realization of human sacrifices of the Mayan people. The leopard is some one they worshiped as the SNAKES. The tongue does not mean the leopard mouth was watery, but it’s a symbol of “communication and/or conversation.” The whole picture meant why what should we sacrifice and to whom.

I have always obsessed with the pillars. I noticed that there were two kinds of pillars, one is square, and the other is cylinder. This is a perfect demonstration of the cultural fusion the tour guide mentioned above: Maya always use square, but Mexicans use cylinders. Note: my tour mate Xintong-sensei disagree with this little point. We are going to ask an archeologist or anthropologist. Those pillars were actually used to support the roof. Somehow, the huge and splendid palace/temple became roofless.

There are so many wonders around the worship sacred garden, I felt the energy and the secrecy around that area. The sky looked amazingly blue and beautiful. We were the last one boarding the bus. It’s hard to leave Chichen-Itza (Chicken Pizza) Please refer to the pics on our facebook.

Lastly, I have to extol the amazing Mexicans in Cancun who speak fluent English. I feel at home. Hope we’ll return home safely. God bless...

已经很random了，这个就chronologically一下吧。。。 1. 很赞也很傻的一件事：昕彤和我做了一顿“大的”。。。结果竟然忘记照相（post上来假扮一下“贤妻良母”也好啊。。。）话说Guiness确实比料酒赞啊 晒一下菜谱吧： 水煮肉（擀面杖整的花椒末和面粉代替的嫩肉粉） 糖醋排骨（蜂蜜加陈醋加香油） 番茄炒蛋 三杯鸡翅 木须肉 鸡丝拉皮 洋葱炒牛肉 皮蛋拌豆腐 鸡蛋紫菜汤。。。 如果没有学姐们帮忙的话，一定不会那么快做完。本想是感谢学姐学长们对我们的帮助，最后只靠俩人还是有点搞不定，呵呵，傻乎乎的。 之后学习学到3点，很有成就感。 2. 很荣幸认识了几个UW-Madison Dance Major的人，很赞：can't keep my eyes off their dance pictures, so Amazing...no offense to "so you think you can dance," but not the same level. Perfect body alignment, perfect. 3. So disappointed: I missed EMINEM's live concert in DETROIT?! May 19 2009. The date is carved. I won't miss it anymore. Finally, saw videos on youtube. AMAZING!!! pro. How can he memorize all the LYRICS? they are freakin' long. I saw the scripts... OMG I bet I can't rap the paper I wrote yesterday:( To close, i know so many amazing people, and i want to be one of them. Be amazing. get pumped^^n' cheers
